Rebecca Long-Bailey MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to the ONS publication of the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which rose by 1.0% in the year to September 2016, said:
“This
shambolic Tory Brexit is already having an effect on living standards.
“With wages stagnant, this will bite into the incomes of people across the
country, including those affected by the public sector pay cap and the benefits
freeze.
“Labour’s programme of investment, through our National Investment Bank and
regional development banks, would help create new high-paying jobs and drive up
wages, so nobody and no community is left behind.”
