Commenting on criticism of the Tory government by the Prime Minister’s own Chief of Staff for failing to address Chinese dumping, Gill Furniss, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Steel, Postal Affairs, and Consumer Protection said:

“Just yesterday I was arguing that our steel producers deserve a level playing field. Now the Prime Minister’s own Chief of Staff has criticised the Tory Government for failing to tackle Chinese dumping and develop a strategy for our steel industry.

“The Prime Minister isn’t even defending the principle of free trade, she is defending the interests of the Chinese against steel communities at home. So much for the Tories being the party of the workers.”
