Jonathan Ashworth MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, commenting on warnings from the General Medical Council that poor morale among NHS staff could put patients at risk, said:
“The
GMC’s warning should be taken very seriously by the Government.
"The
NHS is facing a crisis of staffing, morale and funding, all of which are of the
Tories’ own making.
“You
can’t slash social care budgets, nurse training places and now student nurse
bursaries and expect there to be no knock-on effect on the rest of the staff
and services in our NHS.
"The GMC’s findings are Tory policies coming home to roost. It is clear they are letting the NHS, its staff and its patients down.”
