Peter Dowd MP, Labour’s Shadow Treasury Minister, responding to today’s fall in the manufacturing PMI figures, said:
“Today’s fall in the manufacturing PMI comes after last week’s bad news in the official GDP figures showing a decline in the UK’s manufacturing output.
"At a time when Britain should be supporting its manufacturers to boost exports and sustain high-skilled jobs, the chaos that now dominates Theresa May’s Brexit negotiations is damaging investment and future prospects.
“This government needs to make clear its support for the whole manufacturing sector with a comprehensive industrial policy and investment in the infrastructure that will support high-skilled, high pay jobs and rebuild our economy.”
