Diane Abbott, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, speaking in response to the Government’s changes around eligibility under the Dubs amendment of the Immigration Act, said: 

“The Dubs amendment was intended to help the most vulnerable children. A child is a child, whether they are Syrian or from Afghanistan.

“These arbitrary eligibility rules are not only concerning but cruel.

“The Government must fulfil its promise to protect these children and I will continue to challenge their attempts to roll back on their commitment now enshrined in law.”
