Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Education, commenting on the vote on today’s Opposition Day debate on education, said:

“Today’s vote, in which both the former Education Secretary and Chair of the Education Select Committee failed to support the Prime Minister’s flagship education initiative, should be a serious warning to the Government that many of their own MPs oppose this policy. I hope they take this opportunity to listen to these concerns, look at the evidence, and think again about this decision.”
