Diane Abbott MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, commenting on Government plans to introduce stalking protection orders, said:

“Victims of stalking endure a terrifying form of abuse. It can transform their lives into a living nightmare.

“It is quite right that the Home Secretary has stepped up to introduce these early prevention and deterrent measures.

“However, this cannot act as a substitute for wider failings in the criminal justice system on the treatment of stalking victims, which must be urgently addressed.”
