Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Sport, commenting on the public criticisms of FA Governance from five former executives, said:
“This is a wake-up call for the Football Association.
“The criticisms from the five former executives point to a myriad of failings within the FA’s governance which are having a negative knock on effect throughout the game.
“At a time when the FA is dealing with an increasingly serious sexual abuse scandal, we must ensure that its structures are fit for purpose so that it can take necessary action in the future.
“Also, the worrying lack of diversity at the board room level must be tackled to ensure that the FA is truly representative and independent – not beholden to any vested interests.
“The FA should be the champion of football at all levels, from Sunday league to Premier League”
