Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on the Government’s statement on the Fairer Funding Formula, said:

“We support the principle of a fairer funding formula for schools, but the Government is simply moving inadequate sums of money around. According to their own figures, over 2 million pupils will be losing out.

“The Tories are cutting budgets overall, and schools are struggling to plug the gaps. We are reaching a point where the only thing schools will have left to cut are qualified teachers.

“This is not the way to deliver the world-class education system our children deserve. It is our country’s future prosperity that is at stake here.”
