Labour have said all along that businesses need more than ad-hoc deals - Chi Onwurah

Chi Onwurah MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy, Science and Innovation, commenting on remarks by the Chairman and CEO of Nissan, said:

“We welcomed the Nissan announcement last November. Indeed it is the only industrial achievement of this Government to date, but the Tories shambolic handling of Brexit is now placing even that in jeopardy.

“Labour have said all along that businesses need more than ad-hoc deals. Now we see that even the Government’s ad hoc deals are falling apart.

“Tory threats of turning the UK into a tax haven are not what businesses want, they want tariff free access to the single market.

“Only Labour has a clear and positive vision for our economic future as a high-wage, high-growth economy that provides working people with the jobs and skills they need to succeed and businesses with the investment and certainty they need to compete.”
