Richard Burgon MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, commenting on a report from Citizens Advice on the conduct of bailiffs, said:

“This report undermines any claims by the Tories to be on the side of ordinary people. The last ten years have seen more vulnerable people getting into financial difficulty. They need debt advice, not threats, to get back on track.

“It’s clear that previous government reforms have failed and recommendations, such as the creation of an independent regulator, merit serious consideration.”
