Andy Burnham MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, commenting on the Times
research that 43% of hospital wards fail to meet recommended safe staffing
levels, said:
“These figures reveal the scale of the problem hospitals now face.
“More than 5000 nursing jobs have been lost since the election and David
Cameron has ignored repeated warnings on under-staffing.
“It is simply unacceptable that the Government is failing to take any
action on minimum staffing levels more than six months after the Francis
Report. England’s hospitals must have enough staff to provide safe care.
“This is further proof you can’t trust the Tories with the NHS.”
