Douglas Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, said:
 
“Because of a pause in plans for imminent military action, a new diplomatic path has opened up.
 
“So Britain must now work with our allies to renew the Geneva II diplomatic initiative to bring together all the warring sides of Syria’s conflict.
 
“The ultimate solution to ending the Syrian conflict rests in politics, and for diplomacy on Syria to advance there needs to be a concerted push by global and regional powers to secure peace.”
