Response to Norman Lamb’s speech at the National Children and Adult Services conference - Kendall
Liz Kendall MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Care and Older People, in response to Norman Lamb’s speech at the National Children and Adult Services conference this afternoon, said:
“We don’t need a review to tell us 15 minutes isn’t enough time to get a frail and confused elderly person with dementia up, washed, dressed and fed or that zero hours contracts aren’t good for the quality of care.
“Just last week, Labour Lords tabled amendments to the Care Bill that would have required the CQC to assess the impact of workforce standards on the quality of social care, but Cameron’s Health Minister rejected our plans.
“Vulnerable elderly and disabled people need action now, not yet more obfuscation and delay.”
