Response to figures showing that the UK is second only to Estonia for fuel poverty in the EU
Jonathan Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy and Climate Change Minister, commenting on figures showing that the UK is second only to Estonia for fuel poverty in the EU, said:
“These figures lay bare the full scale of the cost of living crisis unfolding in Britain. It is a disgrace that support for people in fuel poverty has been cut in half at the same time as millionaires have had a tax cut. People are being left in real hardship because David Cameron won’t stand up to the energy companies.
"Britain’s energy is market is not working for families and business. Labour’s price freeze would save money for 27 million households and 2.4 million business, while we reform the market to deliver fairer prices for the future.”
