Douglas Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, commenting on today’s talks in Geneva on Iran, said:

“Today’s talks in Geneva are a vital opportunity to explore if a deal with Iran on the nuclear issue is indeed within reach.

“Given the recent improvement in diplomatic relations between Iran and Britain, the UK must now seek to play a key role in facilitating a resolution to this crisis and test Iran’s resolve and commitment to agree a deal.

“As British negotiators enter the talks alongside our allies, they must remain clear that a nuclear armed Iran would pose a threat not only to stability in the Middle East, but also to our own security.”
