Lucy Powell MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Childcare and Children, in response to comments made by Elizabeth Truss MP in today’s Sunday Express, said:
“The reality of David Cameron’s childcare crunch means childcare costs have risen by 30% on his watch. His response has been to do nothing to help hard working families struggling with the cost of living crisis that has seen childcare costs rising five times faster than wages.
"Labour will introduce an increase from 15 to 25 hours per week of free childcare for working parents of 3 and 4 year olds and provide the provision of childcare between 8am and 6pm for primary age children.”
