Gloria De Piero MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, responding to news the date for implementation of Same Sex Marriage Act has been brought forward to 29th March 2014, said:

“This is fantastic news for so many couples who have been waiting to set a date for their wedding. “Next Summer was always too long to wait for implementation and so it’s welcome news that the Government has listened to calls and now brought forward the date.

“Equality in marriage is a hugely important step for our country and we wish couples across the country who will now be preparing to make this commitment to each other all the best.”
