Response to Ofsted’s annual report - Tristram Hunt

Tristram Hunt MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, responding to Ofsted’s annual report said:

“Ofsted’s state of the nation education report rightly highlights the progress that our great teachers and education leaders are making. However, David Cameron is threatening school standards and failing to deliver for all children, with a damaging ‘postcode lottery’ education system and poverty of low expectations and poor behaviour existing in too many schools.

“By allowing unqualified teachers into our classrooms and having no strategy for school collaboration - which succeeded so well in London following Labour’s London Challenge programme – David Cameron is damaging school standards and hurting children’s life chances.

“Labour would ensure high standards in all schools, with rigorous local oversight, effective collaboration and properly qualified teachers.”
