Sadiq Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, commenting on today’s NAO Report on confiscation orders in the criminal justice system, said:
 
“The law-abiding public will rightly be shocked that Government incompetence is seeing criminals getting away with not paying the full price for their crimes.
 
“It’s simply wrong that over 99% of the money generated by the criminal economy is kept by the perpetrators.
 
“The Government needs to act swiftly, and order a root-and-branch review across key departments and agencies involved. Unless they get a grip, criminals will continue to live off the financial fruits of their illegal actions.”
