Vernon Coaker MP, Shadow Defence Secretary, responding to news that the United Arab Emirates have pulled out of a deal with BAE Systems said:

“This is bad news for Britain and a very unwelcome setback for our defence industry.

"It’s unclear why the negotiations between the UAE and the UK about the purchase of these jets have collapsed.

"Growing our export capacity is crucial to securing the future of the British defence industry and the tens of thousands of people employed across the country.

"The Defence Secretary should clarify exactly what has happened and what he proposes to do now.”
