LaingBuisson report provides extremely worrying evidence of a growing care divide for very vulnerable elderly people - Liz Kendall

Liz Kendall MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Care and Older People, responding to LaingBuisson’s report “Fair Price for Care”, which says that the development of new care homes is now “focused almost exclusively on areas of high privately-paid demand”, said:

“This report provides extremely worrying evidence of a growing care divide for very vulnerable elderly people, including those with dementia.

"The development of new care homes, or the expansion of existing homes, is being almost entirely confined to places where people have enough money to pay for their own care.

"Labour has been warning about this emerging postcode lottery for months. It is a hidden scandal and must be tackled to ensure all elderly people get the best possible standards of care, wherever they live.”
