Tories should accept that Labour’s ban fox hunting is widely supported - Maria Eagle
Ipsos Mori survey show 80% of the public believe fox hunting should remain banned
Maria Eagle MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, responding to the Ipsos Mori survey on hunting commissioned by the League Against Cruel Sports, RSPCA and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, said:
“With Britain facing a cost of living crisis caused by falling incomes and rising prices, David Cameron’s pledge to hold another parliamentary vote on hunting shows how out of touch he is with people’s day to day lives. The Tories should get over their narrow obsession with fox hunting and accept that Labour’s ban is widely supported.
“David Cameron should be focusing on the real issues facing rural communities, including rising energy prices, poor access to broadband and disappearing bus services.
“If the Tories insist on trying to change the law before the next election, they will rapidly find out that they simply don’t have the votes in parliament to bring back hunting.”
