David Cameron refused three times to rule out cutting taxes for people on over £150,000- Chris Leslie

Chris Leslie MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to David Cameron refusing three times to rule out cutting the top rate of tax again to 40p, said:

“After nearly four years of this government ordinary working people are worse off. But David Cameron refused three times to rule out cutting taxes for people on over £150,000. Having already given the richest one per cent a huge tax cut, it’s now clear he wants to give them another one.

“In contrast Labour will help ordinary families and balance the books in the next Parliament in a fairer way. That’s why we want to introduce a lower 10p starting rate of tax, which would cut taxes for 24 million people on middle and lower incomes. And we will reverse the Tory tax cut for millionaires. David Cameron is so out of touch he wants to cut taxes again for the very richest while everyone else faces a cost-of-living crisis.”
