Jamie Reed MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, responding to research from the Nuffield Trust on the anniversary of the Francis Report, said:
“Last year, the Government adopted a pick and mix approach to the Report’s recommendations. Ministers provided only a series of half measures on ward staffing and a duty of candour.
“The Government should implement all recommendations of the Francis report and guarantee safe care to all patients.
“Instead, by turning the NHS upside down with a damaging top-down reorganisation, cutting thousands of nurses, and causing a crisis in A&E, the Government is making care failures more likely, not less.”
