UN Security Council Resolution on humanitarian access in Syria a welcome and important step - Douglas Alexander
Douglas Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, responding to UN Security Council Resolution 2139 on Syria, said:
“The unanimous UN Security Council Resolution on humanitarian access in Syria is a welcome and important step.
"The Secretary General has been asked to report back to the Security Council in 30 days, and in that time it is essential that we see progress to secure greater access to help those who are in greatest need.
"The international community has secured agreement on the key issue of humanitarian access, and must now work together to push for the political transition that remains Syria’s best chance of securing an end this brutal conflict.”
