Douglas Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, commenting on the agreement to send OSCE observers to Ukraine, said:

“Russia’s violation of Ukrainian sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity is completely without justification.
 
“I welcome the agreement that the OSCE will send 35 unarmed observers to Ukraine to provide an objective assessment of the facts on the ground.
  
“This is not the time for the EU to take further economic and diplomatic options off the table, and President Putin should recognise that without de-escalation the costs and consequences for Russia of not altering its present course are going to increase in the days ahead.”
