Huw Irranca-Davies MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Minister, responding to an overwhelming defeat in Parliament for the Government which voted 219-1 against the Government’s failed badger culls, said:

“Owen Paterson has let down farmers, taxpayers and wildlife with his personal mission to pursue the mass culling of badgers across the country, against the scientific evidence. MPs from all parties have sent a clear message today that the government must think again. 

“The Government must now work with Labour, leading scientists, and farmers to develop alternative approaches to tackle bovine TB, based on stricter cattle movements and vaccination.”
