Rachel Reeves MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission’s response to the Government on child poverty, said:
“Today the Government’s own advisers have confirmed that David Cameron’s out-of-touch government won’t tackle child poverty, and isn’t taking action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis hitting families. The commission confirms the Government aren’t doing enough on youth unemployment and low wages. The Government should implement Labour’s Compulsory Jobs Guarantee, strengthen the Minimum Wage, and introduce Make Work Pay contracts to tackle low pay. If they don’t then a Labour government will.”
