Confusion on hunting as Paterson statement on vote to repeal ban different to Cameron pledge for no vote
Maria Eagle MP, Shadow Environment Secretary speaking after DEFRA questions today, said:
“In answer to a question in the House of Commons today Environment Secretary Owen Paterson said the Government would hold a vote on a repeal of the Hunting Act at an appropriate time yet yesterday the Prime Minister said no such vote would happen in this Parliament.
“Owen Paterson also said the Coalition Agreement, which includes a free vote on the issue in this Parliament, still stands.
“The Secretary of State says there will be a vote but the Prime Minister says there will not be a vote.
“The Tory position on the Hunting Bill is in complete confusion.”
