School places - Cameron is failing in his first duty in education - Tristram Hunt
Tristram Hunt MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, responding to primary school ‘National Offer Day’, said:
“David Cameron is failing in his first duty in education: to provide enough good places for every child. He has prioritised his Free School programme, which has diverted two-thirds of new places away from areas most in need of primary school places.
“Before the 2010 General Election, David Cameron promised us small schools and smaller class sizes. The reality is there are more than double the number of infants in class sizes of more than 30 and three times as many ‘titan’ primary schools with more than 800 children than in 2010.”
