Sadiq Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, commenting on the Chief Inspector of Prisons report into HMYOI Brinsford, said:
“This shocking report exposes as a sham the Tory-led Government’s claim to be delivering a ‘rehabilitation revolution’. The conditions described in the report are nothing short of Dickensian, with young offenders inside Brinsford left to rot in squalid and violent conditions.
“The Justice Secretary should be ashamed, and he needs to urgently explain what he is going to do to get this prison back on track. Doing nothing is not an option, otherwise those released from Brinsford will not be rehabilitated and will keep on committing crimes, creating needless victims and costing the taxpayer considerable sums of money.”
