Dan Jarvis MP, Labour’s lead on the First World War commemorations, commenting on the launch of the Imperial War Museum’s ‘Lives of the First World War’ project, said:
“The digital archive launched by the Imperial War Museum today is a fitting tribute to those who served our country a century ago and will help keep their memories alive.
"The First World War changed Britain forever and every community has a story to tell about how the conflict helped shape the lives we lead today. As well as commemorating the millions who fought and died, it is important that the individual stories of men and women who served our country at home and abroad are not forgotten.
"In this important year of remembrance, I hope people of all ages will explore their own family history and help piece together a national memorial that will stand for all future generations.”
