David Hanson, Labour’s Shadow Immigration Minister, responding to comments made by Sajid Javid in an interview, said:
“Labour and Ed Miliband have been clear on the importance of integration and the need for English language to be learned and used in public facing services from government through to local councils.
“I welcome Sajid Javid coming to this issue even if it is a bit late in the day. Just like action on illegal immigration, enforcing the minimum wage, and extending gangmaster laws - the Tories are now following Labour’s agenda to make immigration work in the interests of the UK. Rather than the wild rhetoric of ad vans, the Tories should have focused on this much earlier.”
