Luciana Berger MP, Labour’s Shadow Public Health Minister, responding to Tesco’s decision to remove sweets and chocolates from all store checkouts, said:

“We welcome Tesco’s decision to take the lead in this area.

“Importantly, the majority of shoppers now support the change - especially parents of young children - and believe it will help them to buy healthier foods.

“Retailers have a duty to support individuals in making healthy choices and Ministers must look closely at what they can learn here.”
