This government just can't get a grip on its immigration policy - Hanson

David Hanson MP Shadow Minister for Immigration said:

“This government just can’t get a grip on its immigration policy. They are failing badly to meet their own chosen net migration target which David Cameron promised "no ifs, no buts” they would meet by the end of the Parliament. Simply making more vague promises won’t help, they need to set out practical policies that will work and build confidence.

“EU immigration needs reform and we have already called on the Government to negotiate stronger employment protection to stop European immigration being used to undercut local wages, as well as stronger transitional controls, benefit restrictions, and easier deportations for EU criminals. In each of these areas they could make rapid progress but they have failed to do so.

"Time and again this Government refuses to do anything to tackle the exploitation of migrants that leads to the undercutting of local jobs and wages and responsible businesses.”
