Passport chaos - Theresa May has been distracted by her own leadership ambitions, but Ministers need to get a grip - David Hanson

David Hanson MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Immigration, responding to increasing reports of chaos at the Passport Office, said:

“This crisis in the passport office is evidence that Home Office Ministers have taken their eyes off the ball. Instead of providing a service to the public, Theresa May has been distracted by her own leadership ambitions and fights with rivals.

“With British families facing stress, delays, holiday cancellations and some being stranded abroad, Ministers urgently need to get a grip on the chaos at the passport office, set out how they are going to solve it and make clear when they first knew about this crisis. Until then, more and more families will face the uncertainty of knowing whether they will be able to go on their summer holidays this year because Theresa May is mismanaging her department.”
