Emma Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Housing Minister, responding to Shelter’s report on private renting, said:
“This report highlights David Cameron’s failure to tackle the insecurity of private renting.
“The nine million people who rent deserve a stable home and that is why a Labour government will take action to deliver them a fairer deal.
“We will ban letting agent fees on tenants and we will legislate to make three year tenancies with predictable rents the standard. These new tenancies will mean landlords can’t evict tenants without justification.
“Generation Rent has been let down by this Tory-led government. Labour will act to give them the peace of mind they need.”
