Gregg McClymont MP, Labour’s Shadow Pensions Minister, responding to a report by Which? claiming pension providers not trusted to give impartial guidance, said:
“This report raises serious concerns about whether David Cameron can deliver changes to the pension system. Just a few months ago Ministers claimed all savers would have access to impartial, face-to-face guidance, but alarm bells should now be ringing over the Government’s ability to meet this promise.
“After the chaos, waste and delays seen in the Department of Work and Pensions’ incompetent handling of Universal Credit system, it is now vital that this Government does not make the same mistakes in pensions reform.
“Rather than making the same mistakes as this Government, Labour’s independent taskforce led by Professor David Blake will examine how to increase flexibility for savers, accompanied by guidance that is truly high-quality, impartial and affordable.”
