Jamie Reed MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, responding to Government’s announcement on transparency in the NHS, said:
“It is staggering hypocrisy for the Tory-led Government to talk about openness and transparency. The vast majority of NHS staff now say David Cameron’s NHS reorganisation has harmed patient care, yet the Government still refuses to be open and honest about the risks they were warned of. If Ministers are serious about transparency, will they now comply with the Information Commissioner’s ruling and publish the risk register for their reorganisation?
“Meanwhile, more than half of nurses now say their ward is dangerously understaffed, and more believe patient safety has got worse over the last year than better. And the Government has slashed nurse training places too.
“That is the reality of this Government’s record. The NHS is heading downhill on David Cameron’s watch, and day by day it becomes clearer that you can’t trust the Tories with the NHS.”
