Dan Jarvis MP, Labour’s lead for the First World War centenary, speaking ahead of the re-opening of the Imperial War Museum, said:
“The transformation of the Imperial War Museum and the unveiling of its new First World War galleries are a spectacular addition to the centenary commemoration programme. It will help engage people of all ages with a conflict that changed Britain forever and keep its memory alive for future generations.
“As well as paying tribute to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, these important years of remembrance are also an opportunity for us to reflect together on our shared history.
“The Imperial War Museums have enabled people across the country retrace the stories of those who served us on the frontline and the home front and, explore how they helped shape the lives we live today.”
