“It is very welcome that Meriam Ibrahim has been able to depart from Sudan safely alongside her family. 

“Her imprisonment was both barbaric and brutal and the international community rightly expressed its outrage to Sudan’s government ahead of the decision by the Sudanese authorities to release her. 

“Freedom of religion and belief are fundamental human rights, and millions around the world will today take comfort from the fact that Meriam and her family are now able to enjoy that freedom.”
