Comment on Government's response to the Defence Select Committee report on future interventions - Coaker
Vernon Coaker MP, Labour’s Shadow Defence Secretary, responding to the Defence Select Committee’s report on future interventions, said:   “It’s clear that under David Cameron this government doesn’t think strategically about current or future defence priorities.   “The National Security Council should be a proactive, forward-orientated body that works across government to identify future security threats and global challenges. Instead, it is short-termist, reactive and operationally-focussed.   “Similarly, the Strategic Defence and Security Review of 2010  focussed heavily on making short term savings only to store up long term costs.   “Labour’s approach to the next SDSR and National Security Strategy will be comprehensive, strategically-led and financially responsible.”   ENDS
