Michael Dugher MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, responding the Public Accounts Committee report on whistleblowers, said:
“The Public Accounts Committee is right to highlight the vital importance of whistleblowers. In many cases, their bravery in coming forward has exposed serious wrongdoing and malpractice and has led to significant and much-needed reforms.
“The report should serve as a wake-up call to the Government that more needs to be done. There must be a clear standardised policy for handling whistleblowers working across all of our public services to ensure that there are no disparities in how people are dealt with, and that staff are protected from being victimised.
“It is vital that employees can get the support they need and deserve if they decide to speak out.”
