Unfortunately for Nick Clegg, when he had the chance to act on immigration control and exploitation, not only did he fail to act, he voted against this - Diana Johnson

Diana Johnson MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Office Minister, reacting to briefing ahead of a speech from Nick Clegg on immigration control, said:

“Unfortunately for Nick Clegg, when he had the chance to act on immigration control and exploitation, not only did he fail to act, he voted against this.

"Under this Government the effort to tackle illegal immigration is getting worse not better. Ministers are failing on his Government’s net migration target and there have only been three prosecutions for minimum wage exploitation.

"Despite being warned repeatedly about these failures in the system the Tories and the Lib Dems have ignored Labour and voted against our proposals.

"You can’t trust a word Nick Clegg and the Lib Dems say on so many things - and now we can add immigration too."
