Mary Creagh MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, responding to the announcement of a feasibility study into extending Crossrail to Hertfordshire, said:

“Labour started the Crossrail project in Government, so we welcome the feasibility study into extending it to Hertfordshire.”

“However, the Government will be judged on actions, not words. Infrastructure output has fallen by over 12 per cent since 2010 - Ministers have failed to deliver the projects we need to boost jobs and growth. Commuters struggling with inflation-busting fare increases need action today to improve their train services, including a strong cap on fares.”
