NEWS FROM LABOUR: "Mental health services are getting worse not better" - Berger

Luciana Berger MP, Shadow public health minister, in response to Norman Lamb’s comments on mental health services, said:

“Norman Lamb is not a commentator; he has been the minister responsible for mental health for the past 2 years.

"On his watch child and adolescent mental health services are in crisis. Funding has been cut, the number of doctors and nurses has been reduced and we are seeing more and more children being treated on adult wards.

"A Labour Government will ensure mental health gets parity of esteem with physical health which although in the law now, under this government falls far short of being a reality. Norman Lamb needs to take responsibility for the fact mental health services are getting worse not better on his government’s watch.”
