Clive Efford MP, Shadow Sports Minister, responding to a commitment from Britain’s leading gambling companies to act on public concerns on gambling said:
“This is a welcome step by Corals, Ladbrokes, William Hill and Paddy Power, but it needs to cover the whole industry. The new watchdog must be completely independent of any influence from within the industry and be free to carry out effective monitoring.
“The betting operators are acting in spite of the Government’s feeble response to address the serious concerns that we have expressed about the impact of FOBTs and Gambling Advertising.”
