Michael Dugher MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, responding to the defection of former Deputy Mayor of London, Richard Barnes, to UKIP, said:

“Here we go again. Another top Tory jumping ship is another blow to David Cameron’s beleaguered leadership. It looks like the Conservative Party is falling apart at the seams.

“The defection of Boris’s right-hand man and former Deputy Mayor also shows once again that UKIP is a party of Tory politicians, Tory policies and Tory money. We see once again UKIP are more Tory than the Tories.” ​
