Andy Burnham MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, responding to the Liberal Democrat NHS announcement, said:

“You can’t trust a word the Lib Dems say. They’ve broken all their promises and been too weak to stand up to the Tories.

"Why would anyone believe any commitment they make on the NHS when they have backed the Tories’ all the way in taking the NHS backwards? Thanks to them it’s harder to see your GP, waiting lists are going up and £3 billion was been wasted on a top-down reorganisation of the NHS while thousands of frontline staff have been made redundant. The Tories couldn’t have done it without the Lib Dems.

"Only Labour will make Britain work for everyday working people, rewarding the hard work they do and saving the NHS they rely on. We will save and transform the NHS, establishing an NHS Time to Care fund which will fund 20,000 more nurses and 8,000 more GPs.”
